New Volkswagen Passat launched at 20.80 lakhs

2011 Volkswagen Passat Diesel 2.0 TDI Car


Volkwagen has launched the new 2011 Passat in India at a starting price of Rs. 20.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At the moment Volkswagen has only launched the diesel Passat with a 2.0 TDI engine which produces 170bhp (same engine as of Audi A4 and Q5 use). A 1.8 TSI petrol engine Passat is expected to be launched in some time.

The entry level Passat is priced at Rs. 20.80 while the Comfortline costs Rs. 23.80 lakh and the top-end Highline Rs. 25.65 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). With the new Passat VW has also introduced BlueMotion technologies for the first time. The car features an auto start-stop system which automatically switches off the engine when stationary and restarts when accelerator is pressed. The new Passat also features Brake Energy Recuperation which recovers and recycles energy lost during braking, thus conserving fuel and reducing emissions. The car also gets low resistance tyres, low friction mechanicals, lower idling speeds and brake energy regeneration to conserve fuel as well as cut down on emissions.

New Volkswagon Passat launch on March 29




Volkswagen India is all set to launch its next-gen Passat saloon on March 29, Autocar India is reporting.
The seventh generation Passat bases itself on the previous generation model. The length is nominally increased by 4mm, while the height and width are left untouched.
Styling changes include a fresh front grille and headlight treatment, and more chrome and new tail-lamps at the rear. The interiors according to reports is well built and quality has witnessed an appreciable upgrade. There is oodles of chrome and the comfort offered by the Passat, at the front or rear, has been retained.
Two engines will be offered – 2.0 TDI and 1.8 TSI – these engines are familiar to Indians as they feature on VW group sedans. the 2.0 TDI will now deliver a considerably healthier 170bhp, 32bhp more than the current engine. The saloon will be offered with manual and DSG gearboxes options. Expect the prices to be marginally higher than the current model.
