Jaguar Land Rover bringing armoured cars to India

Tata owned Jaguar Land Rover has disclosed plans to launch its armoured vehicle range in India.
Aimed at wealthy buyers who need protection against possible assault, the company will launch armoured versions of the Range Rover and Discovery SUVs. The indicative and astronomical prices are Rs. 4.75 crore for the Range Rover and Rs. 3.75 crore for the Discovery. In comparison, a stock Range Rover costs just Rs. 1.06 crore.
Later Jaguar would also bring in an armoured version of the XJ sedan called XJ Sentinel priced at Rs. 5.5 crore! All models would be imported as CBUs from Jaguar Land Rovers plant in England where they would be fitted with a host of safety features for protection against automatic weapon fire, grenade attack and even a TNT blast.
While the market for such armoured vehicles is very limited in India, the company will find takers amongst our loaded politicians, industrialists and movie stars. Other luxury carmakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz also have similar products but they have not yet launched in India.
