New Volkswagon Passat launch on March 29

Volkswagen India is all set to launch its next-gen Passat saloon on March 29, Autocar India is reporting.
The seventh generation Passat bases itself on the previous generation model. The length is nominally increased by 4mm, while the height and width are left untouched.
Styling changes include a fresh front grille and headlight treatment, and more chrome and new tail-lamps at the rear. The interiors according to reports is well built and quality has witnessed an appreciable upgrade. There is oodles of chrome and the comfort offered by the Passat, at the front or rear, has been retained.
Two engines will be offered – 2.0 TDI and 1.8 TSI – these engines are familiar to Indians as they feature on VW group sedans. the 2.0 TDI will now deliver a considerably healthier 170bhp, 32bhp more than the current engine. The saloon will be offered with manual and DSG gearboxes options. Expect the prices to be marginally higher than the current model.
