General Motors has finally confirmed the launch of the Camaro in India. The company will launch the iconic muscle car in the country by the end of 2011. GM will soon start making right hand drive versions of the Camaro, which will be imported by the GM India. The Camaro will be priced at Rs. 40 lakhs and will be launched purely for brand building purpose. It will be a CBU which will attract heavy import duties.
Camaro ZL1 recently unveiled in 2011 Chicago Motor Show which features a 550bhp 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine which powers the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with dual clutch. In comparison the regular 6.2-litre Camaro produces ‘just’ 426bhp. To harness the added power the ZL1 comes equipped with a new electric power steering system, Magnetic Ride Control and larger Brembo brakes.
